The History of Padanaram
Tucked at the mouth of the Apponagansett River, Padanaram has been a working harbor village since the 18th century — a place of shipbuilders, whalers, and merchants whose lanes, wharves, and weathered storefronts still shape the village you walk through today.
It has carried four names, been burned to the ground by the British in 1778, made and lost a fortune in salt, and was home to the Concordia yawl, 103 of them built between 1938 and 1966.

The Padanaram Business Association is a collaborative group of local business owners, community leaders, and volunteers dedicated to preserving and enhancing the unique character of Padanaram Village. The organization works to support local businesses, promote community events, attract visitors, and strengthen the village as a vibrant waterfront destination where commerce, culture, and community come together.
Through events, marketing initiatives, beautification efforts, and advocacy, the association helps ensure that Padanaram remains one of New England's most cherished coastal villages
